is the tattoo based on the book/movie/lifestory??

It's never inappropriate to purr, as far as I'm concerned!

Glad you like 'em.

I guess the initial inspiration came from They Might Be Giants' Apollo 18 cover. The giant squid/sperm whale battle is a myth/icon that's fascinated me since I found out about it.
