As you can tell from my silence, I've been having a good time. Entered that limbo where the drive to complete my regular activities has taken a left turn and dropped off the map.
So much so that my blog brain has turned off. I'm feeling hazy and dazed and lacking narrative.
- It's colder than I expected. Sure, 15 degrees sounds really warm when you're looking at the temp from a town where it's minus 15. But when the damp sea air is seeping into your bones through the light jacket you brought, I'll tell you that 15 degrees is not that warm.
- The angles are beautiful. Because it's a peninsula, the streets all meet at angles in different spots in the city. Makes for a beautiful geometry.
- A hostel downtown is going to be loud. Especially if the rad in your room whistles like a teapot between 5 am and 7 am and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.
- Rothkos are always breathtaking, no matter what city you happen to be in.
I've walked CT all around the town, drinking coffee and reading papers; shopping, window and otherwise; going to readings; seeing a very fun band; eating dinner with an old friend.
Bucky Sinister is just as funny now as when we toured together nearly 5 years ago. Which is to say, very much so.
Today is stacking up to be a very gay day. First a trip to the GLBT Historical Society, to see if they can help me with a project I'm simmering, then a trip to Good Vibrations, where I'll surreptitiously take pictures of displays, then a bus or two over to the Castro, for a wander around under the rainbow flags.
