Taking the Fall

Walls Just Pop Up!

"Hey, who put that wall there?" the Word Wizard and I like to say sounding outraged whenever we walk into a wall in our home.

Yoga doesn't sound so fun anymore...

At least that handstand pose... Good for you for trying it though...

Was the satisfaction from accomplishing it (plus whatever benefit is derived from actually doing it) worth the aftermath you describe? Doesn't sound like it, but I guess the real test is if you try it again (wholeheartedly not halfassed) or not...

I would also suppose that much like weightlifting, the pain is a good sign. Its the pain from muscles repairing and growing in the process. The similarity to the pain from falling down a flight of stairs has got to be only a coincidence... ;-)

I only started doing handstands when I was 36 and I like doing them now. Up until then it just freaked me out too much and so I just waited until I felt like doing them was good. But against a wall or a tree when I'm feeling comfortable. My sister and I do a handstand thingee in Partner Yoga now, which can be a lot of fun, even for people who don't normally do handstand.

The physical pain you describe reminds me of doing cartwheels as a full-on adult. I did a few to show my daughter a couple of summers ago that I could do 'em too. Wow. I won't be doing that again. I can do them in an emergency but otherwise I'll pass. It knocks me out!
